Royland Stucco

Traditional Stucco
Hard Stucco
Traditional stucco is a cement-based system applied in multiple coats over a lath substrate. It creates a hard, breathable surface that’s been used in construction for centuries. This method is incredibly durable and weather-resistant, making it a reliable solution for Alberta’s changing climate.
One of the key benefits of traditional stucco is its natural resistance to woodpecker damage and hail impact. The dense composition discourages birds from pecking and withstands severe weather far better than lighter finishes.
Why it matters: Offers long-lasting protection, classic texture, minimal maintenance, and superior resistance to pests and extreme weather.

Our Process:
- Waterproofing & Flashing: 3M membrane is applied around windows and doors. Flashings are installed (white or black) along with two layers of black paper for moisture and fire protection.
- Stucco Prep Work-Plaster stops, galvanized wire mesh (with 8” overlap), and control joints are installed.
- Quick corners and full surface protection (tape + plastic) are also applied.
- Stucco Application – Three layers are applied:
- Scratch Coat: for bonding
- Brown Coat: smoothed and leveled
- Acrylic Finish: in your choice of over 300 colors
- Cleanup & Final Check: We remove all protection, take down scaffolding, and walk through the finished work with the client.
